Latest Google Earth Wisconsin GOES Imagery
The above KML file references a MapServer WMS mapservice that displays imagery collected by a GOES satellite (Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite) positioned about 36,000 km away from the Earth. For more information about the GOES series and the products developed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, see: http://cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/goes/. The WMS mapservice is maintained on a test server at the Space Science & Engineering Center (SSEC) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The imagery in this mapservice is updated every 30 minutes during daylight hours in Wisconsin and includes visible as well as infrared channels. For more information and instructions on how to link your GIS software directly to the mapservice, visit http://speedy.ersc.wisc.edu/ or contact Sam Batzli.
